Gianni Pasolini received the Dr. Ing. degree in Telecommunications Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1999 and 2003, respectively.
In May 1999 he joined the CSITE (Centre for Studies in Computer Science and Telecommunication Systems) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), which became, in Nov. 2002, the Research Unit of Bologna of the IEIIT (CNR Institute for Electronics and for Information and Telecommunications Engineering).
Here he started working within the research group led by Prof. Oreste Andrisano, focusing his activity on wireless communication systems. His research interests include Digital modulations, digital signal processing, Internet of Things.
In October 2006 he became a Researcher at the University of Bologna. He is currently Associate Professor at the same university.
He performed his research activity also within the context of several national research projects, in tight cooperation with some of the most important manufacturers, in some cases also supporting the management activity (Project “Multimedia”, 1999-2003, industrial partner: Siemens Mobile) or as the responsible of the research activity (project “WWLAN: Broadband Radio Access Network”, 2004-2006, industrial partner: Alcatel Alenia Space. Project “TRIP: Transport Routing information Platform”, 2007-2009).
He serves the IEEE as reviewer for many Transactions/Journals and Conferences and as TPC member of several international conferences (IEEE ICC 2007, IEEE ICC 2008, IEEE WCNC 2009, CNSR 2009). He partecipated to the activities of the European COST Action 273 "Towards Broadband Mobile Multimedia Networks", being also the Editor of the WPAN Section of the COST 273 Final Report.
He has been affiliated to the European Network of Execellence on mobile communications NEWCOM, performing research activity within the project "Functional Design Aspect of Future Generation Wireless Systems".
He is a member of IEEE.
